Build up your own strategy, plan your future moves, your adversary does his move, then you do yours etc..

As I turn my 30's, it is getting much clearer for me that life is not a Chess, but a pure Backgammon game. And this is why, I would like to draw the attention of anyone interested in strategical product development to this enjoyable game which didn't have much of a follower in western countries, until recently Microsoft decided to add Backgammon to Windows XP's Start Menu as a default online game.

For many, Chess is a perfect game to develop one's tactical and strategical thinking skills, but Comparing Backgammon to Chess, I find some aspects in Backgammon much more truer to life than in Chess.

First of all, in Backgammon, the moves one makes do not cause his adversary to totally lose it's resources as in Chess, but causes temporary block of it's abilites. This is very similar to the situations in ordinary market economies, in which one company can not destroy the marketing manager of the competitor to succeed.
The second most important aspect is rolling dice, which adds a completely new dimension to Backgammon compared to Chess. Dices perfectly represent the uncontrollable factors of life.
As in Chess, if one part of the Backgammon game has a tactical and theoretical aspect, the other part consists of one's ability to adapt his resources to changing and evolving conditions, and make his moves according to those.

Play Backgammon, it will help you develop your creative skills, and that's what Ferrari 's Formula 1 Team tactician Jean Todt does..
